Clements Plant & Access Hire are celebrating being honoured with a win after being shortlisted in a major national hire industry award. Company Chairman, Jim Longstaff and Managing Director, Adrian Hutchison attended the awards.
The Passionate Hirer Awards 2022 are organised by leading hire industry publication, Executive Hire News. The awards honour and celebrate the tireless efforts of hire companies from all over the UK and Ireland. Split across two categories, Outstanding Single Depot Hire Company and Outstanding Multi Depot Hire Company, the presentation of the awards took place during the Executive Hire Show.
In total, over 800 hire companies receive nominations from customers, suppliers and industry peers. Prior to shortlisting each category, the Executive Hire News team assess the nominees. Industry peers complete the final judging process before revealing the winner.
The judging criteria includes a variety of ‘mystery shopper’ visits and calls to depots. The judges assess each finalist on business presentation and functionality of premises; staff enthusiasm and competence; efficiency in handling orders and enquiries. Additionally, the quality of fleet products and delivery vehicles and innovation in offering a wide range of equipment and exploring new technological opportunities were part of the judging criteria.
The range of equipment available from Clements is growing and diversifying as technology and the industry changes. The company is working towards operating a net zero carbon emissions business by investing in the best environmentally friendly equipment.
In addition, the depth of stock availability is increasing as overall utilisation of the fleet continues to grow. Adding new equipment on a rolling basis allows the company to regularly improve the technology available. In turn this keeps Clements ahead of the competition and ensures that local customers get the best service.
Outstanding Single Depot Hire Company Winners.
Clements’ were successful in the Outstanding Single Depot Hire Company category. In summing up as they announced the winner, the judges stated:
“The passion for hire and customer service resonates throughout the company. The balance of experience from the workshop to the hire team is a breath of fresh air. The company not only does everything that is required, we were also really impressed with their unique ‘Hire Hub’ system they have created, which helps to manage the fleet and keeps everyone up to date. We can only take our hats off to them”
On receiving the award, Jim Longstaff, Chairman of Clements commented:
“We are not the biggest and have no aspirations to be so. It’s fantastic to have a team who dedicate themselves to focus on delivering exceptional customer service. We are proud that we have an age range from 16 to our Operations Director Paul Dixon at 64, who has 48-years-service with the company. With over 250-years of industry experience accumulated by the team of 19, we also focus on bringing new talent into the industry. We recently took on the 6th apprentice during my time with Clements. The judges were able see that we stood out from hundreds of fellow Hire Companies for our service, knowledge, attention to detail and customer care. It’s humbling to receive this award especially as judging is by fellow Hirers in the UK”
MD, Adrian Hutchinson went on to add: “despite being only 2-miles from the HS2 line, we are yet to supply that project. This has not impacted on our business whatsoever. We have investment plans already underway for approaching £1m of new equipment and vehicles in 2022. It is important that we continue to develop both our fleet and team to meet the growing demand post covid”
